Job Overview
The Youth Development Professional – Soccer Focus plays a key role in creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children and adolescents. This role centers around using soccer as a vehicle for personal, social, and academic growth, while also supporting youth through tutoring, mentoring, and behavior guidance. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with kids and understands how sports, especially soccer, can be used to build life skills, teamwork, and confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead soccer-based programs that develop both athletic skills and character values.
  • Use behavior management strategies to foster a positive, respectful, and motivating learning environment.
  • Provide academic tutoring and enrichment in core subjects to support each student’s educational goals.
  • Blend soccer with other creative activities (e.g., arts, team-building games, theater) to offer a well-rounded experience.
  • Track student progress—on and off the field—and communicate updates with parents or guardians.
  • Create inclusive sessions that support children with special needs and varying skill levels.
  • Ensure a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols and maintaining current first aid certifications.
  • Work closely with team members to align on program goals and deliver a consistent, high-quality experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience coaching soccer or working with youth in educational, sports, or recreational settings.
  • Understanding of child development and the role of sports in youth learning and behavior.
  • Strong behavior management and conflict resolution skills.
  • Academic tutoring or teaching experience in core subjects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with inclusive education and special education practices is helpful.
  • Energetic, engaging, and able to connect with youth through soccer and other creative approaches.
  • First aid certification required; CPR certification preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and peers.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sports Assistant is responsible for prepping all fields or gymnasiums in use by the YMCA during the time the space is occupied for YMCA Youth/Adult Sports including offsite facilities as required.

In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Set up and take down department equipment and facilities as required
  • Assist the Sports Director in the management of sports leagues
  • Promote, administer, and lead in the development and implementation of youth/adult sports programs and services
  • May be required to serve as an official, referee or timekeeper as needed
  • Inspect and report any facility or equipment safety issues to the Sports Director
  • Provide program participants with accurate league information as required
  • Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers and program participants
  • Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service
  • Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA

  • Willingly perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Sound working knowledge of appropriate sports as determined by season including league rules and policies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents and participants accurate program and sports information including rules and policies as set by the YMCA.
  • Ability to foster positive staff, peers, and program participants.
  • Ability to supervise large groups of participants.
  • CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.

Part Time Soccer Coach - Soccer Shots Atlanta East

Are you ready to be the best part of a child's week?

WHAT YOU"LL DO:
You will bring Soccer Island alive with your energy and enthusiasm! Our part-time coaches will lead and assist anywhere from 5-15 sessions per week at preschools and parks in Dekalb County. Growth opportunities are available as we always take priority in promoting from within! Reliable transportation is required for this position and a background check will be conducted in order to work with students.
