Sports Data Collector – Soccer Matches (Part-Time)
Soccer Match Data Analyst — Field (Part-Time)
A great fit for high school and college students
Get paid to go to soccer matches. $100 per match, your ticket and travel covered, and it's only ~2–4 matches a month — so it fits around classes, practice, and exams. No prior experience needed; if you know soccer, we'll train you on the rest.
About us
We build structured event data sets for professional sports. Our collection team works across several leagues; this opening is for our soccer coverage. We're hiring field analysts in markets across the US and Canada.
The role
Field analysts attend assigned matches in person and record what happens during the match using our mobile collection tool. Full training provided — no prior data experience required. A good fit alongside school or other work.
Compensation
$100 per assignment attended. Match ticket and all travel expenses fully covered, including rideshare and transit to and from the venue.
The $100 base rate is not fixed. Rates are reviewed periodically and may be adjusted up or down for future assignments based on how accurate and reliable your match records are — did you catch the events, were they on time, did you show up when scheduled. Analysts who consistently exceed the standard are moved to a higher rate.
Independent contractor. Payment within 3 days of each assignment.
What the assignment involves
- Attend assigned matches in person at your local venue, ticket provided
- Record match events through the tool as they occur
- Stay for the full match and submit your record before leaving the venue
Requirements
- Available for regular matchday assignments through the season, and willing to travel to your assigned venue. Travel is fully covered, including rideshare and transit
- Deep passion/familiarity with soccer. We need people who have played the game or followed it closely for years — enough that reading a match is second nature. You should be able to tell what just happened on your own, immediately, without waiting for the stadium screen, the PA announcement, or the reaction of the crowd around you.
- You'll be working the match rather than watching it socially — we need your attention on the match throughout
- Smartphone with reliable cellular data, charged to last the full match
- Dependable scheduling and responsiveness; assignments are confirmed in advance
Bonus
- Live within easy reach of an MLS or other top-flight club's stadium
- Played competitively at any level — youth club, high school, college, adult league, or semi-pro
- Longtime follower of MLS or any major league
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply
Application Question(s):
- How far are you willing to travel to a match assignment? (max)
- Are you available for evening and weekend matches during the season?
- Briefly describe your soccer background — where you've played, or how long you've followed the game.
- In soccer, when a player is penalized for being offside, how is play restarted?
