NATURE AND SCOPE:
Under the direction of the Sports Director, the Contract Coach will assist in developing, organizing, and administering team practices and games for their designated sport. Instruct young boys and/or girls in the fundamentals of sports while promoting a positive attitude and good sportsmanship through coaching. This is a contract position. The Contract Coach will be required to sign a individual coaching contract.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the health, safety and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
- Maintain accurate program documentation.
- Assist with communication to participants and parents.
- Enforce all reporting measurements, policies and documentation as required.
- Attend necessary coaches and or parent meetings.
- Must perform duties in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values and objectives established by the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA, Branch Strategic Plan, Safety Protocols, and Member Services Guidelines and Non-Negotiables. Emphasis will be placed on member service, program knowledge, member/staff safety, and communication with members and staff.
REQUIREMENT:
- Must be 16 or older
- Experience coaching and working with kids or experience playing the sport at a higher level
- Must be energetic, positive, enthusiastic and exemplify YMCA ideals

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Sports Monitor is also responsible for opening/closing sites and responding to various situations to ensure safety for participants and spectators and the cleanliness of the site. This position does not provide sports instruction.
This position must perform duties in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values, and objectives established by the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA, Branch Strategic Plan, Safety Protocols, and Member Services Guidelines and Non-negotiables. Emphasis will be placed on member service, program knowledge, member/staff safety, and communication with members and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of children in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
- Monitor sports practices, clinics, games, or open play.
- Set up, monitor, maintain, and secure all supplies, equipment, and buildings.
- Ensure cleanliness and safety of facilities.
- Reports any problems to supervisor.
- Answer inquiries from participants, parents, volunteers, or other stakeholders and provides information or seeks the answers to provide in a timely manner.
- Responsible for opening and closing the facilities on evenings, weekends or as needed.
- Must perform duties in accordance with the policies, goals, mission, values, and objectives established by the Metropolitan Atlanta YMCA, Branch Strategic Plan, Safety Protocols, Member Services Guidelines, and Non-Negotiables. Emphasis will be placed on member service, program knowledge, member/staff safety, and communication with members and staff.
- Implement the YMCA safety protocol related to branch and off-site operations.
- Respond to safety and emergency situations and maintains/reports accurate incident/accident forms.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must meet minimum age requirement of 16 years old.
- Must be able to independently get to the branch, gym, or fields for scheduled shifts.
- High degree of interpersonal communication, conflict management, and customer service skills to tactfully enforce all rules and regulations.
- Maintain branch and association certifications in CPR/AED, state approved First Aid, new staff orientation, branch orientation and emergency procedures.
- May need to be available nights and weekends.
ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk; run; sit; handle or feel objects; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to lift to 60 pounds. May involve movement of large and/or heavy equipment up to 60 lbs. (i.e.: soccer/basketball goals, volleyball nets, sports equipment, uniforms, etc.). May involve being outdoors for long periods of time.

Job Description Highlights:
Reports To: General Manager
Location: Marietta, GA
Flexible Schedule: Minimum of 15 - 25 hours a week including weekend availability
Role Scope and Requirements:
The Summer Camp Instructor is a seasonal position that works in coordination with the mission of TOCA. We are looking for someone who would like to be a Seasonal Soccer, Baseball or Softball Instructor for TOCA camps and also assist in refereeing Youth and Adult leagues and events during the summer.
- Teach the basics of soccer through competition and practices
- Explain the rules of soccer, including scenarios and the skills necessary to complete
- Be a role model for the kids and lead by example
- Set up and take down all camp equipment daily
- Administration of activities and ensuring campers are staying on task.
- Lead the activity, guide them, participate as a ref, and in some cases, you may participate as an athlete.
- Ensure every camper has fun, learns something new, and learns that every kid gets something out of camp. Even though it’s difficult, challenging the superstars is just as important as teaching the beginners.
- Assist in weekly operations of Summer camps at the facility
- Assist in checking campers in, getting them warmed up for camp, abiding by the camp schedule set in place, and checking campers out upon camp completion
- Know how to deal with conflict when it occurs during camp
- Create meaningful and lasting relationships with kids and their parents to build their trust in you as their camp instructor
- Must display a great attitude, patience, effort, high energy, and engagement to be successful in this role
Knowledge and Experience:
- Athletic background is encouraged but not required
- Previous experience in camps, activities, and youth programs is preferred
- Successful completion of a background check if hired
- Fun, energetic, and positive individual
- Coachable and an understanding that each day brings another task

Your Game Plan:
On the Field: Coaching & Player Development (50%)

- Guide players in structured sessions through thoughtfully designed player pathways that help them achieve their personal goals.

- Be the welcoming face that makes the TOCA experience unforgettable.
- Team up with the TOCA Training Manager to track progress, review performance, and strategize for growth.
- Support efforts to win back players, analyze data, and adjust training methods as needed.
- Keep the facility a fun, clean, and inviting space. You create the atmosphere, ensuring everything stays positive and player friendly.
